Beauty Basics: How to Clean Makeup Brushes
Once you’ve made the investment in brushes, take care of that investment by regularly washing and cleaning your brushes. Regular maintenance of your brushes will provide you with years of use, but it will also keep your makeup, brushes, and routine more sanitary. It is particularly important to regularly wash face brushes if you are acne-prone — it is best to do so after every use, especially with brushes that have been used in cream or liquids.
You can use any of the following:
Brush Cleanser (by MAC or any other brand)
MAC Cleanse-Off Oil (to remove stains)
Baby Shampoo (by any brand)

Thank you sooo much for this video! This explained brush cleaning much more efficiently than many other videos. I have the problem of MUFE #951 star powder staining my brushes, and of course my eye lids. I never thought to use Cleanse Off Oil, so thank you for informing me and many others with this video!!!
I love your website, your videos, and all of the great information that you provide. Keep up the great work, Christine!

I am always surprised when people mention baby shampoo as a gentle cleanser. It’s gentle on the eyes as far as stinging, but it has harsh sulfates. I use a gentle, sulfate free shampoo after using olive oil to cleanse my brushes. Works like a charm.

transfer your mac cleanser to a travel size spray bottle and olive oil works just as good
